The German design and design research landscape is on the move and with this movement new institutions and formats are emerging. Thus, the German Design Council founded the Institute for Design Research and Appliance (IfDRA) a few months ago as an interface, mediator and consultant on various topics from theory and applied practice of design.
In this context, the IfDRA also organizes the talk series "Design Talks", which focused on the topic of "design and health" on September 23, 2020. Once again, it has been shown that design and design research can be effective far beyond the actual product. In an inter- and equally transdisciplinary dialogue, it is important to further develop this potential for health-promoting design. We can also benefit greatly from projects and initiatives outside our national borders and should continue to take the importance of scientific approaches into account.
